While chatting with a friend about which dog I would like to have as a pet, he commented,"People who want dogs, like to be masters. People who get cats end up serving them." I know a dog owner who sits for hours in a cramped position because her lab has gone to sleep on her knee. Doesn't sound too masterful to me. But what do you think?

Your friend is right in a joking sense, but we are usually the ones who become very wrapped up in our animals. We should be the master no matter what animal we have a pet. It makes the relationship more harmonious.
