You will find that all reputable universities accept international students and you will also find that the majority of universities offer a master's program in psychology and human behavior. For U.S. universities, the princetonreview.com is a good place to start.

Well my friend just received her bachelor degree in Psychology as well and I think she's planning on getting a masters in Social Work.

3
You can have a bachelors in Psychology and go to Grad School in any discipline. There is no set path you must take. Good Luck.

Try an uncle sams

With a bachelors in psychology you could opt for a masters in psychology, counseling, social work, and most "social science" fields. If you were to chose one of these options you might have to take a few core classes along with your grad courses, but it is likely that you would be accepted for the program. I don't think that you would gain admission to an MBA program, but there are a few choices out there. Edited: Frenchie- No need to get defensive, different schools have different policies and yours may differ from mine. If you have undergrad courses that consist of some business classes then yes, it's possible. However, at the school I attended Psychology was a bachelor of arts and few people I knew were interested enough to take elective classes in business. Friends of mine that decided to go for an MBA because they later realized that psych wasn't for them couldn't get into the program because they didn't have the fundamentals necessary and were instructed to take more classes and reapply. It just depends on the school you want to attend.

You can go as far as a Ph.D in Psychology or any discipline. Yes you can gain admission to an MBA program!! If you have the grades, there is no reason why you shouldnt. For instance, I'm getting a bachelor's in Psychology, then master's in mental health counseling, and Ph.D in Clinical Psychology. You can do that or anything you want. I had a professor who had a bachelor's in math and went to graduate school for religious studies. It doesnt matter.

You can do a lot of things as long as you have the prerequisite classes for the Masters degree completed. I got a bachelors in psych and them went on to get a Master of Social Work.

How long will it take to get my Bachelor's/Master's degrees in Psychology

How long will it take to get my Bachelor's/Master's degrees in Psychology?
My question is, how long will it take for me to get both my Bachelors and Masters in psychology if i can only attend school part-time. Because I certainly can't do full-time. Thanks! And how long would it take normally full time?

well, a full time student goes to school 3-4 years to get their bachelor's degree. if you can only go part time, i would assume it would take you between 4 and 6 years to finish your bachelor's degree. usually people who go on to get their masters in psychology spend 5 to 7 years in graduate school, but if you plan on going part time then it may take longer than that.

What jobs are available to people who hold a master in Psychology

What jobs are available to people who hold a master in Psychology?
Can anyone give me a site that I can search degree with job matches (if that makes sense). I'm hoping for a site that has either a drop down menu or something easy to use. I'm hoping I can pick the degree and a list of jobs will be shown based on that degree choice. Or just give me some general examples of what I can do with a Masters in Psychology! Thanks

Well, anymore if you want to open shop as a psychologist you will need the masters degree. and you may see a time in the near future where you may need your doctorate. So I would go for the Psych. And if the worse happens you will be grandfathered...

A social welfare degree is the same as a degree in social work. Social work would be working largely for non-profit organizations. A bachelor's in Social Work is pretty much not viable (you need to have an MSW to be certified). If you want to go into counseling adolescents I would go with the MA in Psychology (and eventually a Doctorate). You can specialize in Adolescent Psych and given the opportunity to become certified. A bachelor's in Psych is pretty much useless in counseling as most counseling jobs require certification which you cannot obtain from just a BA in Psychology. Good luck!!

Depending on the licensure laws of the state you're in, a bachelor's degree in social work may get you further than a master's in psychology. In my state, you can be licensed to do therapy under the supervision of a more experienced professional with only a bachelor's in social work. You can also be licensed to do independent practice with a master's in social work, counseling, or marriage and family therapy, but not with a master's in psychology. For psychology, you need a doctoral degree. But, the rules vary from state to state, so definitely research the licensing laws in the state you want to work in before making a decision. I would also talk to advisers in both the psychology and social work departments at your school to find out exactly what you can do with each degree, and don't be afraid to ask questions about similar programs that might better meet your needs. Good luck!

Is getting a master degree in psychology required just a bachelor degree in psychology or certain classes

Is getting a master degree in psychology required just a bachelor degree in psychology or certain classes?
Does applying for Master degree in psychology requires classes like when we transfer classes from community college to university?. for example, say i had my bachelor degree in psychology in the University of A, then i applied for Master degree in psychology online in the University of B. will i be asked to complete more classes to satisfy classes requirements in the University of B? Or having just a bachelor degree in psychology from any university is enough to apply for Master in psychology?

of course, where did you get your masters, where did you

2
This is all dependent on what the requirements are for the university you are applying to; however most often than not, if you completed a B.A. in Psych, you should have all the core requirements completed for a M.A. Usually, most M.A. programs seek that applicants have completed an introductory course, a research methods course, and a into statistics course. If you got your B.A. in psychology, then you've obviously completed these courses. There are many instances in which you can be "conditionally" accepted into a program, meaning that you are accepted, however you are missing a requirement and must complete that requirement within a certain amount of time. Again, it all depends on the program. My advice to you is to look at the requirements for each school you plan to apply to.

No reason you can't get the masters in psych. I'd suggest checking walden university and the university of phoenix - both offer reasonably priced programs at the masters level - and even into the phd ish level. -dh

Yes, it's possible. You'll likely have to take several "foundation" courses or several undergraduate courses in psychology to meet the Graduate program prerequisites, but it's definitely possible.

What kind of practical experience is good for an industrial/organizational psychology master's program

What kind of practical experience is good for an industrial/organizational psychology master's program?
I'm currently working towards my Bachelor's in psychology, and when I graduate I plan on getting my master's in I/O psych. I'm required to do an unpaid practicum before I graduate that is related to my future goals in psychology. I would love to be a "volunteer organizational developer" and all, but that won't work since I don't have any experience in that area. Do you have any ideas?

Your unpaid practicum is also called internship. See if you can get an internship in the Human Relations department of any corporation. If that does not pan out then contact the university you are currently attending and see what businesses they have agreements with, you may be able to find something to gain experience there (not in the exact field you want, but experience counts) Join the Boy/Girl Scouts in some leadership capacity, they are always looking for volunteers and and they are an organization. Plus it would look great on your resume. I have some university friends in the IO field and they managed to get internships in places you would not think to look, such as the Girl Scouts and volunteer Homeless Shelters. If you call these places up, explaining that you are a senior and want to apply your knowledge and gain real life practical experience, I am sure they will jump at the change to have you. And after a few weeks, maybe you can convince them to let you make the jump to the position you REALLY want... unpaid of course. ;->

What do you do with your master's in educational psychology? Why did you go into this field?
I'm doing an article for an educational website to give prospective educational psychology master's candidates an idea of why they need a master's to do what they'd like to do in this field. Any answers would be most appreciated.

Teach, write books, get a cam corder and go off into the wild and take a few pictures of the wild animals and sell documentaries with your opinions on animal psychology. In your free time, set up a web site that gives free therapy sessions on line. After you get a little notoriety, you can set up an office where you live and charge money for the same thing. You could apply to the local radio and tv stations. Or you could apply to some research lab. You can volunteer at a crisis hotline center. This is just off the top of my head. Government jobs are also nice to have both Fed and local. I was a math major but seriously considered working the Food industry for the Calif University system and also for the Calif DMV. There are all kinds of things out there for you to do. Just keep an open mind. You've got the degrees and no one can take those away from you. You are way way way ahead of the game right now. Pray, and seek God what He would have you do. Maybe something in the ministry. I Cr 13;8a
