Many people think you need to have a Phd to do anything such as private practice in psychology. They are misinformed. Sometimes it is best to have a masters degree unless you are looking to do clinical/research work, which is not your case. The difference between having a phd and a masters degree.. Masters: way less school. Periodic supervised meetings (usually once a week or once a month, just to check in and make sure everything is going well) PhD: More school. More pay however insurance companies for some reason are more likely to reimburse a masters degree. Phds typically only make on average $7 more per session. Unless you are practicing in an area like L.A. or New York.
