would studying psychology be good

would studying psychology be good?
guys don't you think that mastering psychology at an early age puts one at great advantage? cos as long as you know how the mind works, many things will be under your control. moreover, there're different fields of psychology thus you can apply it in different aspects of your life. what do you think?

No, you're a little bit wrong. Don't forget that psychologists also are people. So they also have their personal life problems, which don't depends on them sometimes. Psychology is not a kind of magic to manage your personal life successfully. They also have their own psychologists (mostly colleagues), when they feels hard after a hard day when they have heard so much heavy problems.

Studying psychology will only leave you with a $55,000 a yr job and a mountain of student loan debt. If you want to stick with psychology, at least get your Phd in it.

Not so sure about "they guys", or the "early age" part of your question but psych is a fascinating subject, and yes it does have many applications in life if you are also mentally healthy. All the knowledge in the world won't help a person unless they also strive for their own mental health. Reading on the topic will help you if you are considering studies in psyche; might start with some of the "primers," and move on from there...to look into different aspects of the study. Enjoy!

Understanding psychology won't necessarily merit you with the tools to further control your own psyche... it is a HUGE field and how you apply it to your life depends on what part of it you learn. Learning about parts of the brain is essential for doctors, mental illnesses ties in with psychotherapy and criminal mind, child and developmental psychology is good for a day care setting or child psychologist, and theres a lot more. Psychology is a great thing to get involved in... I've myself taken 2 years and it has completely changed my outlook, but I can't say it has changed my person at all. I guess I can look at someone who is angry and in a way evaluate it.. I know the anger is center in their amygdala and I know until the irritating stimuli is removed they will continue to be angry until they let it slip from their mind... but I can't say it really helps me everyday. It doesn't however open up numerous doors to expand in careers or the higher learning.

i agree. but it is true, you wont be able to solve your own problems, nor those who you are very close to because whether you realise it or not, you are emotionally attached to them and will have a bit of bias in your opinions and diagnosis. im so studying psychology! :D
